Dr Parikshit Goswami receives Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman Award

Dr Parikshit Goswami, a MeDe Innovation investigator in textile technology (Stratified design & manufacture of nonwoven collagen scaffolds) is one of 25 Indians across the world to receive a Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman Award for helping to create a positive image of India.
Dr Goswami from the School of Design has been awarded this prestigious award for his contribution to the textile technology industry.
The NRI (Non-Resident Indians) Welfare Society of India organise the Awards to recognise and celebrate Indians all around the world excelling in their chosen profession.
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, said about the society: “NRI’s and overseas Indians have been our brand ambassadors since decades. They are showcasing the image of India very well by maintaining their culture, tradition, skills and style of life, while dwelling in foreign countries.”
Dr Parikshit Goswami has worked within different industries including a world-leading third party textile testing and quality certification company. He is now a lecturer in Textile Technology at Leeds, and Director of Fibre and Fabric Functionalisation Research Group.
 
Dr Goswami is also introducing a new MSc Textiles course in the University.
