Cheney Fellowships for Early Career and Senior Med Tech Researchers

Would you like to spend a period of time working on your research at a leading UK institution, exploring new research ideas and building new collaborations, free from day to day distractions?
The Cheney Fellowships Scheme, funded through the generosity of Peter and Susan Cheney is designed to do just that.
Now in their second year, Cheney Fellowships enable talented researchers working in the area of Medical Technologies to undertake a period of research at the University of Leeds. During this period they can spend time thinking, talking, collaborating and developing new ideas with academic colleagues, including staff and research students.
Applicants from both within and outside academia are encouraged.
Fellows will be paid a salary, although alternative arrangements (for example visiting academic status) can also be considered. Additional funding may also be available to support you in your move or to fund research costs.
Successful candidates may be employed by another institution at the time of application but will seek temporary leave of absence to undertake the Fellowship.
Two types of Cheney Fellowship are available:
• Cheney Early Career Fellowships – for applicants with less than 6 years experience post PhD
• Cheney Senior Fellowships – for applicants with greater than 6 years experience post PhD
Potential fellowship holders are invited to submit a copy of their CV and a statement (up to two pages) stating whether they are applying for an Early Career Fellowship or a Senior Fellowship and describing how they would meet the broad objectives and selection criteria (these can be found online at the link below).
A short-listing process will be undertaken, after which candidates may be approached to submit further information or to discuss their candidacy further with the lead academic in the relevant academic field.
The start dates for the fellowship scheme are flexible, but it is anticipated that the fellowships will commence in the autumn of 2014, and normally no later than one year after the closing date for expressions of interest.
