‘Supervet’ Professor Noel Fitzpatrick announced as keynote speaker for MeDe Innovation Annual Conference

This year’s conference will be headlined by channel 4’s ‘Supervet’, who will join us in Bradford to give his presentation ‘One medicine for man and animal – working together toward a new era for custom implants and regenerative scaffolds.’

Professor Fitzpatrick, originally from Laois, Ireland, is a world-class Orthopaedic-Neuro veterinary surgeon and Founder and Managing Director of one of the largest, independent veterinary referral centres in the UK, Fitzpatrick Referrals.  He is Professor of Veterinary Orthopaedics at the University of Surrey, Co-Founder of the University of Surrey Veterinary School and Associate Professor at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
Noel obtained his Bachelor of veterinary medicine from University College Dublin in 1990. Following scholarships at The University of Pennsylvania and The University of Ghent, he went on to complete the RCVS certificates in small animal orthopaedics and radiology.
Noel has attained boarded specialist status by examination in both the USA and the UK, with the degrees of ACVSMR, American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, and DSAS(Orth), the Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics).
In 2005 he opened Fitzpatrick Referrals, the UK’s pre-eminent and largest dedicated small animal Orthopaedic and Neuro-surgical facility in Surrey with state of the art surgical and diagnostic facilities as well as extensive rehabilitation services.  In September 2015, he launched a sister hospital in Guildford for Oncology and Soft Tissue, widely regarded as setting a new veterinary standard in treatment and care.  Fitzpatrick Referrals now employs over 220 veterinary specialists, nurses and support staff.
Noel remains the clinical chair and chief surgeon at Fitzpatrick Referrals operating on a daily basis. He is particularly experienced in minimally invasive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, spinal disc disease, limb deformities, joint replacement and limb salvage for severe trauma or cancer. He is recognised and respected globally as a true thought leader in his field of expertise, who moves and inspires others with his leadership, his life enhancing treatments, his teachings and his passion for superlative care and rehabilitation.
He has made several TV documentaries, which have been broadcast internationally. The Bionic Vet was commissioned by the BBC in 2010 and currently The Supervet on Channel 4 is in Season 7 and has the highest audience appreciation figures of any show on the channel. The programs explore the importance of the human-animal bond in society and our moral responsibility for animals in the context of advanced medical and surgical care.
Noel Fitzpatrick has also been instrumental in bringing the concept of One Medicine to the fore in the UK, designing and establishing a platform for the cross-pollination of expertise and ideas between veterinary and human medicine. One Medicine is at the heart of Noel’s mission and the cornerstone of The Humanimal Trust, which is the charity he has founded and the first of its kind in the UK.
Noel is regularly invited to speak and inspire audiences from within the veterinary and medical industry and beyond, including science students, the British Army, Art and Literature followers, City financiers and opinion formers.  He is recognised in the Guinness Book of Records for his achievements and in 2016 had the honour of being invited to Buckingham Palace to discuss his work with Her Majesty The Queen.
