Nanofibre fabrication

Capability Description

Free-surface electrospinning capabilities are available for converting a large variety of biomaterials into fibres and webs suitable for integration in to prototype medical devices. The system enables spinning over small 5 x 5 cm areas up to continuous web manufacture across a c. 200 mm conveyor. Additionally, a FibeRio forcespinning unit provides sub-micron production capabilities from both spinning solutions and polymer melts.

Case Study

These processes are routinely utilised by industrial and academic researchers to produce nanofibrous coatings on medical devices, as well as fibre webs incorporating functional chemistry or nanoparticles in continuous sheet form (supported or unsupported on preformed films/fabrics).
