Pre-clinical Wear Simulation: Hip testing capabilities

Capability Description

iMBE has extensive pre-clinical wear simulation facilities with in excess of 80 stations for studying tribology of hip, knee and spine arthroplasty bearing materials and cartilage repair interventions. Our Leeds facilities are capable of simulating a standard gait cycle using iMBE Standard Operating Procedures  iMBE profiles or ISO14242 profiles. Using iMBE Standard Operating Procedures allows comparison with an extensive published database of results. Capable of simulating a well-positioned prosthesis as described in the ISO14242 standard – but also surgical mal-positioning and edge loading conditions. We can also simulate different daily activities such as rising from a chair, stair climbing, and stop-start conditions
