Bioactive device design, development and batch manufacture

Capability Description

Wide range of additive manufacture, 3d printing and moulding technques to fabricate macro and micro porous bioactive structures in biopolymers (natural and synthetic), bioceramic and biocomposite materials.
Ability to scale up to provide batches of hundreds of devices for device level mechanical and biological evaluation.
Able to undertake device level characterisation of devices through in vitro and mechanical testing, both individual and combined within biosimulators.

Case Study

Within the Arthritis Research UK Tissue Engineering Centre developed a series of innovative highly porous, load bearing plugs for osteochondral defects, based on a bioceramic only design, and a hybrid polymer-ceramic biocomposite.
